It's not often a mom gets to work with her son on a commercial shoot! We got to film Sharae Elaine and her son, Liam, in a cute video for STM Goods. It was a lot of fun working with Sharae and Liam. Liam has SO. MUCH. ENERGY. He literally flies into frame! Sharae is also 9 months pregnant with another boy, Phoenix! We thank Sharae for diving into this shoot and helping with directing Liam! Check out the finished video below: If your business needs a fun video with a diverse cast/crew, message us! We love supporting diversity in front of and behind the camera.
We can also come up with fun script ideas for your products that will truly grab people's attention! -Angela

We're finally back in the saddle with STM Goods and shooting some new content for their Indian market. We were so excited to work with Yash for the project! He's new to modeling but was a natural! The video and photo industry, as you can guess, is male-dominated. So when we're building our team, it's always so exciting to meet other female videographers, female editors, etc. And we're so grateful and proud of companies like STM Goods that also embrace diversity and supporting local artists!
STM Goods creates high end, tech backpacks and Apple accessories. They've given us some fun projects and amazing opportunities to travel and work with all kinds of people.
Our most recent project is about local San Diego coffee roasters, Dorian and Luis at Coatl Coffee. The original goal was to travel with them to Chiapas, Mexico so see where the coffee beans grow and are harvested. Because there was a limited budget, it turned into a flashback to their first trip there. I wanted to capture the awe and magic Dorian and Luis felt when they visited the jungle. In their interviews, they always had such reverence for the land and the process of coffee making. So when we "arrive" at the jungle as audience members, our sound designer, Stephanie Gonzalez created an atmosphere that was arrested and sacred. That kind of feeling is not something you can show on a product. It can only be embodied by people. People in action. People inspiring others. Branded short films like these can build trust with clients/customers for the brand in ways that a catchy song and some models cannot. They're also a unique way to showcase a brand's values - who does it align with? What is the brand's culture? Link to our short film on Coatl Coffee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AegCxqRSvkA
Link to REI's film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnzMdzmlYuo We wrapped up on a sweet and short docu-style video on Coatl Coffee. We're very excited to share their story and passion for quality coffee and sustainability!

Contact us and let's get started! It was a whirlwind and a massive thrill to get the Start to Finish crew out here in Miami, FL. The weather was not horribly humid (compared to summer months heheh), the people were fantastic, and the food even better! We got our favorite model, Robbie Ikegami, with the STM Goods Dux Backpack around Little Havana and South Beach. The colors, the vibrancy of life... this was definitely a trip we'll never forget! If I could do anything different, I'd suggest budgeting for more than just a few hours of filming when you are in a totally new location/city/state. You've put in the money to travel, you've spent all the time getting there... why not take your time and really milk each location? If you're a business that sells consumer goods and electronics and need a professional touch to your social media content - message us! We got you... from start to finish!
-Angela Element Cases did a collab with model Tyson Beckford for the exciting Tyson Tactical watchband series! We were stoked to go and film some magic with the team in Miami, FL! It was a fun time and we got to work at Bridges Productions to film the commercial. 13/10 recommend using them for your production needs! The space was clean and organized. Staff was super friendly. And they had so much gear on hand and ready for you to rent! We brought our Red Komodo and Sony A7iii for stills. Still, some extra lights from Bridges came in handy! If you are interested in the watch, look out for the Tyson Tactical watch on the website: https://www.elementcase.com/
And if you're interested in hiring a team that can handle your video production needs - message us! We can handle it from start... to finish! -Angela I usually hate the phrase "boys and their toys" when it comes to videos and articles about guys drooling over their own camera gear. So here's a female videographer/cinematographer's opinion on it! I'm Angela - I'm a videographer/commercial director and editor in the San Diego area. I've worked here professionally for the last 10 years. I've worked on documentaries, commercials, weddings, live news; and I've worked with DSLRs, Red cameras, Blackmagic pocket and Ursa cameras... And these are the 2 cameras I own and use: My Favorite DSLR: SONY A7III Newer models have come out but I still LOVE my Sony A7iii. It's great in low light, takes video and stills; it's lightweight and goes on the zhiyun gimbal and I can shoot forever with it. I initially had 2 of them but sold one to help pay for the Red Komodo (later on in the blog). Fun Fact: both my Sonys were used. I've never bought them brand new.
My Commercial/Cinema Camera Kit: Red Komodo I debated between getting the Sony Fx3 and the Red Komodo for a long time and finally pulled the trigger on the Red. I'm hoping companies needing bigger cameras/even higher quality images will hire us and use it!
For the Red Komodo, I've used it for commercials and documentary work. I pulled i out to show off at a small family gathering and was quickly tired of carrying it around like a baby. HA.
Got gear you love? Or accessories you think I should add to my arsenal? Let me know in the comments! -Angela A lot has happened within a few weeks! I got to film more 4 STM Goods commercials with the crew. It was a weekend of madness!
I also jumped in on an opportunity to work with Keep A Breast - a really amazing non-profit that educates people on breast cancer awareness and prevention. The women we interviewed are all incredibly bad a** and inspired all of us that day. Definitely check out the new work! And if you want to be notified sooner of our ongoing projects, follow us on Instagram! Happy International Women's Month! I posted this photo and gif on the actual day and wanted to reshare on our blog.
Start to Finish Media Co is a production company that focuses on women and minority stories. We do what we can to hire women in film and tell stories that are unique to them. I'm currently working on a documentary with these ladies at PCTV (a different production company) and they are THE BEST. To the left is Stephanie. She's an audio recording and mixing wizard AND editor. In the middle is Luci, an editor and associate producer. And me, cinematographer and editor. (But more editing than filming for this particular docu). We've all experienced challenges in the film industry for being female and I love seeing us thrive and work around it, face it, and challenge it. My personal goal is to be able to hire these two for future documentaries and commercial work in the near future! Stay posted! -Angela |
